Part 2: The Event That Woke Up a New Layer in Me

✨ This is Part 2 of the "Latina, Artist, Immigrant, Mother" Series

There are moments in life that don’t just inspire you—they wake you up. That’s exactly what happened at Latina Xposible.

I went into the event feeling hopeful, curious, maybe a little nervous. By the end of the night, I left feeling deeply seen, incredibly proud, and more connected to my Latina identity than I had felt in a long time.

This wasn’t just an expo—it was a mirror, a magnet, and a medicine for my soul all at once.

💫 A Full-Circle Moment

The invitation came from Evelyn—my former boss, my friend, and now, the incredible founder of Latina Xposible. We had worked together in corporate HR almost a decade ago, and even then, I knew she was someone special. Back then, she was one of the few Latina women in leadership in our company besides me, she became someone I looked up to for her clarity and confidence.

Life pulled us in different directions, but when I reconnected with her years later, I found out she had created this beautiful event—and that she was releasing her book! The timing was surreal: just weeks earlier, I had decided to take the calling for my next creative project that was deep in my soul for a long time, the beginning of the Purposeful Dreamer book.

The stars aligned. Evelyn invited me to participate as a sponsor, and I said yes.

🎨 Art Meets Purpose

I worked hard preparing for Latina Xposible. I brought prints, stickers, and pieces from my Stronger Together collection, unsure of how they’d be received. What happened next took me by surprise.

People saw my art—and they saw themselves in it.

So many women came to my table to talk, ask questions, share their stories, or simply tell me how much a certain piece resonated with them. It wasn’t about selling (even though I hoped to). It was about connection. Reflection. Representation.

I remember one therapist who was developing her own art therapy tools. A group of teens asked me if I could help with their business logo. A few women were curious how I built my website and transferred my art to products. The conversations felt so organic, and they reminded me why I started this in the first place.

🌎 Reconnecting with My Latina Roots

Something unexpected happened that weekend, too. I realized just how much I had unintentionally disconnected from the Latin American world around me. Living in a beach town with less Latino influence, raising bicultural kids, building a life that’s uniquely mine—I hadn’t even noticed how far I’d drifted.

But being surrounded by Latinas who were immigrants, entrepreneurs, authors, and dreamers just like me lit something up inside.

We were different in our stories but united in our spirit. We were all navigating motherhood, healing, ambition, fear, and faith. We were all showing up, not just for ourselves—but for our families, for our communities, and for the next generation.

✨ When Healing Surfaces

This event also brought up some hard things. I couldn’t avoid them.

Old memories surfaced—of leaving my toxic ex-husband, of the times I had felt silenced or underestimated. I realized how much I had blocked parts of my past, thinking that by ignoring them, they’d go away. But they don’t. Not really.

What they do is wait—for a moment of safety, of sisterhood, of truth. And when they surface in a space like this, something magical happens: they don’t feel as heavy anymore. They become part of your fuel.

🔥 There Is Power in Your Story

A phrase echoed throughout the day: “There is power in your story.”

It felt like it was meant for me.

I left Latina Xposible feeling more aligned than ever with my mission—to create from the heart, to tell the truth, and to keep building Purposeful Dreamer as a space that empowers others to do the same. Through art. Through writing. Through showing up, even when it’s scary.

Because we’re stronger together—and our stories matter.

🤝 Stronger Together: More Than a Collection

At Latina Xposible, I saw women standing proudly in their power, telling stories that echoed pieces of my own. It reminded me why I created my Stronger Together art collection—because we are never alone in our journeys. We rise through shared strength.

Each piece in that collection is rooted in connection, in sisterhood, in all the brave women who have walked beside me and lifted me up.
