Believing is Seeing
(Art, Spirituality, and Self-Growth)
Ever heard the saying: “Seeing is believing”?
My latest art collection is here to bust that myth wide open. Let’s flip it around to: Believing is Seeing.
When you open yourself to this possibility, you unlock the potential for something extraordinary—maybe even better than you imagined!
This idea has inspired both my creative process and my journey as an artist and a mom of two boys, one in his teens and one just beginning as a toddler.
In this post, I’ll share how belief, perspective, and creativity have shaped my life and how they can inspire yours.
Overcoming Challenges with Belief
Believing in myself is something I keep working on every single day, and the reason my art calls me to understand how I can keep going with this dream.
Before I started Purposeful Dreamer, I never believed I could do something I enjoy as a career, let alone that I was an artist! Yet art had called me in one way or another my entire life.
I thought that making everyone else happy would bring me joy instead of finding the joy in myself, it seemed so much easier to believe in everyone else but me.
There are too many stories to share in one blog on what this Purposeful Dreamer journey has meant for me, and how all this inner work has helped me understand my beliefs allowing me to shift my thinking to keep going for what I feel is right for me.
Yesterday was tough—emotionally draining yet fulfilling. I tackled a long to-do list and launched this blog! But the day ended with a migraine, leaving me restless. Turning to Mind Valley, my go-to meditation app, I found a session titled “Believing is Seeing.”
How crazy was that?! Talk about Serendipity…
This meditation explored neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to adapt and grow based on how we think. It reminded me that changing our thoughts can transform how we feel and act.
Believing in myself has been so hard. This practice of reframing thoughts has been essential to my healing, personal growth and art journey.
Thankfully I woke up feeling a lot better and It was my sign that I needed to finish sharing this experience with you here, there’s been so many moments that continue to connect me in this path and the more I learn about myself and a take care of my mind, body and soul, the more clear my path is and the easier it gets to find joy and peace every day.
From Inspiration to Creation
Over the past four years, my artwork has been deeply influenced by self-help books, meditation practices, and personal experiences. These elements have helped me transform my mindset, shifting my focus to empowerment and growth, but also more peace and joy in my life.
Some key lessons I’ve learned:
- Perspective is everything.
- Beliefs shape reality.
- Creativity, curiosity and exploration are great tools for self-discovery.
These insights are at the heart of my latest art collection, inspired by the concept of "Believing is Seeing." Art designs inspired by my own journey through Spirituality and Mindfulness.
Spirituality Through the Lens of Life and Art
Growing up in El Salvador, I was blessed with a big family, attended Catholic school and was part of the Scouts, my world seemed so small, and so was my perspective.
At 15, my parents moved me and my sister Texas, and two years later, to Miami, where I decided to stay and build a life of my own. These transitions exposed me to diverse cultures, beliefs, and ideas that expanded my understanding of spirituality and the world.
Today, I consider myself spiritual rather than religious and I fully respect everyone that belongs to a religion and all the good that some of these organizations provide to the world.
For me, my deepest connection to the divine often comes through nature, my art, prayer, and acts of love and kindness and I truly believe we should follow the spiritual path we are most connected with.
This spiritual journey has influenced my personal along with my art, which has been an outlet for me to process emotions and exploring new ideas.
Self Help Books That Inspire My Work
These are two of the many books have been a guiding light on my path, one from back in 1923, and the other one just a few years ago, both with timeless wisdom connecting this inspired piece of art for me. They are:
-
The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn
-
Published in 1923, this book offers timeless wisdom on imagination and belief. A favorite passage:
“Man can only be what he sees himself to be, and only attain what he sees himself attaining.” -
Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo
-
This modern classic teaches us how beliefs shape our reality and reminds us that every challenge has a solution.“Our beliefs are the root of our reality and our results”
Why "Believing is Seeing" Matters
In a world filled with information overload, it’s easy to feel lost. But belief is a powerful tool. By shifting your perspective and focusing on possibilities, you can create a reality filled with joy, peace, and purpose.
My art reflects this journey. Each piece is designed to remind you of your strength and potential, encouraging you to believe in yourself and the beauty of what’s possible.
